Seven Up is a great game for kids aged 5 to ten. It’s easy to learn, easy to play, easy to set up, and it helps kids learn how to order their numbers.
Setting Up Seven Up Card Game
All this game requires is a deck of cards and 2 to 4 people playing.
- Throw out any Jokers and shuffle the deck.
- The dealer will pass out 7 cards to each player, all face down. The players are not allowed to look at their cards.
- The players are to place all 7 cards in front of them in a row, still face down.
- The rest of the cards are grouped together and placed face down on the table where everyone can reach. This is the draw pile.
Rules of Seven Up Card Game
The aim of the game is to order the cards in a row, left to right, starting with an Ace and ending with a 7. Whoever gets there first wins the game.
- The player to the left of the dealer will start the game.
- Players will take turns turning over the top card from the draw pile. Each player is trying to find a card from Ace through 7. All other cards are undesirable.
- If a player draws from the pile and it’s not a desirable card, they will place it in the discard pile face up. This is for if the card is not an Ace through 7 or if you already possess one of those numbers.
- If they find a desirable card, they can exchange it for the face down card on the appropriate spot. For example, a 3 will replace the third face down card in a row. The exchanged card is discarded face up, and they will not need another 3.
- If a player finds the discarded card currently on top to be desirable, they can take it instead of drawing from the draw pile. They will then exchange it for the face down card in the appropriate spot and discard the exchanged card.
- The game ends when one of the players successfully makes a complete sequence of Ace through 7.
