Goals

Students need to have a small set of easily defined goals to help direct their behavior.

Prioritize the goals and select the behaviors that present the most difficulty. Limit the Behavior Management Plan to changing three behaviors at a time.

Clearly state each problem behavior as an improvement goal or outcome to help provide a positive guide to modify behavior.
Example: The student will stay with the activity until the teacher directs the student to another activity.

In the Sample Behavior Management Plan, three goals are chosen for an imaginary child called CW whose reactions are triggered when there are changes in the schedule, changes in classroom routines, and during unstructured play time.

1. CW will not become disruptive during task transitions

2. CW will not exhibit aggressive behaviors toward other students when he becomes anxious

3. CW will regulate his reactions to the classroom environment
